Helping Grey Nomads with diabetes self-management

Recipient of the 2019 Research Grant

Lead researcher: Dr Anita De Bellis

Administering organisation: Flinders University

The ADEA Diabetes Research Foundation has approved a $60,000 Research Grant to Dr Anita De Bellis, who will explore and develop a preparation checklist and an education module for allied healthcare professionals to help older people with diabetes who travel for extended periods of time, colloquially known as Grey Nomads (GNs), to self-manage their condition.

‘The development of the education module and preparation checklist will eventually be available online for pharmacists and travellers with diabetes. This has the potential to improve information, education and management through access to technology,’ said Dr De Bellis.
